Producer Information
Terredora (officially known as Terredora Di Paolo) is a wine producer based just outside the town of Montefusco, due east of Naples, in the Campania wine region of southern Italy. The winery produces an extensive range of red and white wines including the DOCG titles of Greco di Tufo and Taurasi, among others. Production covers numerous local varieties from Piedirosso and Aglianico (red) to Fiano, Greco and Falanghina (white) varieties. The estate was established in 1978 by the Mastroberardino family and subsequently divided between brothers Antonio and Walter Mastroberardino in 1993. A year later, Walter Mastroberardino founded the current incarnation of the family business, naming the estate Terredora Di Paolo after his wife Dora Di Paolo. Terredora’s wine range is spearheaded by its two Grand Crù wines: the CampoRe Taurasi Riserva and the CampoRe Fiano di Avellino, both produced from an estate-owned Lapio vineyard in Campore, a few kilometers east of the winery. The CampoRe Taurasi is only made in the best years and the Aglianico grapes are macerated on skins for 15 to 18 days and aged for 24 months in French oak and a further 24 months in bottle before release. In the case of the estate’s Campore Fiano di Avellino wine, half of the Fiano grapes are fermented in French oak barrels and the other half in stainless steel vats. Several ranges and labels sit below the pair, including the Pago dei Fusi and Fatica Contadina Taurasi wines, the Loggia della Serra and Terre degli Angeli Greco di Tufos, as well as the Il Principio Aglianico Irpinia, the Corte di Giso Falanghina (also under the Irpinia title) and the Ex Cinere Resurgo Fiano di Avellino. Further red, white and rosé labels abound, covering numerous regional varieties and denominations, from the Lacryma Christi Vesuvio rosso and bianco wines (made from Pedirosso and Coda di Volpe respectively) to varietally labeled Campania IGT wines, a rosato, olive oil and grappa. Terredora’s 200 hectares (494 acres) of vineyards are located across the communes of Santa Paolina, Montefusco, Montemiletto, Montefalcione and Lapio, some 80km (50 miles) east of Naples. They are planted on volcanic, south-facing slopes situated at altitudes between 400-650m (1310-2130ft) above sea level.
