Tropical in nature with up-front viscosity and richness, this white shows dense flavors of pineapple, mango and vanilla. The oak is integrated yet present, contributing a shock of honey as it finishes. Producer Information Acacia Vineyard is a Californian wine producer, and one of the pioneers of the Los Carneros wine region. It was founded in 1979, and was one of the first wineries in California to make single-vineyard Pinot Noir wines. Since the 1990s, it has perhaps been better known for its Chardonnay. Grapes were sourced from local Carneros growers until the mid-1990s, when Acacia started to acquire properties surrounding the winery. Today, these holdings total around 60 hectares (150 acres) and provide over 80 percent of Acacia’s grapes, with the remainder coming from select contract growers. Acacia makes an extensive range of unoaked and oaked Chardonnay wines. This includes wines labeled under the generic California designation to single-vineyard releases, including wines from Russian River Valley, Sonoma Mountain and other AVAs outside of Carneros. The Pinot Noir lineup has a similar breadth, and also covers rosé. Acacia also makes wines from other grapes, including Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Merlot. In 1986 the company was sold to Chalone, which in turn was purchased by Diageo in 2005. It is now owned by Treasury Wine Estates.
