This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Mourvèdre shows the Cab more than any other variety. It leads with aromas of red berries, mocha, ground pepper, graphite and an herbal savory streak. Those Cab-like graphite and leafy notes follow through to the palate, which is soft and rounded in texture with herb-flecked tannins and a bit of a bitter finish.\n \n Producer Information\n Wirra Wirra Vineyards is a wine producer located in Australia's McLaren Vale. It was established in 1894 by Robert Strangways Wigley, but it wasn't until 1969 that Greg Trott resurrected the estate, turning it into the iconic winery it is today. Wirra Wirra is arguably best known for its Church Block wine, a Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot blend first produced in 1972 by the late Greg Trott. The estate has a diverse wine portfolio with classic varieties like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as less common varieties including Tempranillo, Monastrell and Touriga Nacional. Top wines include the Angelus Cabernet Sauvignon, RWS Shiraz, and the Absconder Grenache. The estate comprises 51 hectares (126 acres) of vineyards around the McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. The best sites, including Scrubby Rise, Nocowie, Chook Block, and '73 Block, are all farmed biodynamically. In 2015, Wirra Wirra acquired Ashton Hills, a leading Pinot Noir estate in the Piccadilly Valley of Adelaide Hills.
