Wears its regional and varietal pedigree on its sleeve. Rich and flavoursome as it is, there's a feeling of controlled power about this wine. At its core is blackberry fruit; ripe and almost luscious, but with no sense of jamminess. There's a contribution from the oak adding a cedary element, and a touch of chocolate, all bound together by fine-grained but persistent tannin.
