It produces red wines based on the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety, and white wines from Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon. The estate was founded in 1996 by Leslie and Susan Rudd, after they purchased a property in Oakville. Since then, the Rudds have expanded the original winery and established an estate in the cooler conditions of Mount Veeder where the white varieties are planted at around 1500 feet (460 meters). The estate winery already featured cave wine cellars when the Rudds bought it, but they have now been expanded to over 20,000 square feet (1850 square meters). Temperature and humidity control systems have also been added, giving optimum conditions for barrel maturation. The caves are home to the Rudd Wine Library. The 78,000 tonnes of bedrock blasted out of them has been used to contruct the walls around the Oakville property.
