Port Askaig 8 Year Old is a youthful Islay single malt selected and bottled by Elixir Distillers to showcase a fresh, vibrant expression of peated island whisky. Matured primarily in ex-Bourbon casks, it combines coastal smoke and mineral character with bright citrus, vanilla and youthful malt sweetness. The relatively young age keeps the peat energetic and direct, while eight years in oak softens the spirit and adds a creamy layer of caramel and vanilla. The nose is fresh and coastal with lemon zest, green apple and gentle smoke. The palate moves through citrus fruit, honeyed sweetness, vanilla and clean peat before a briny, smoky finish. Bottled at 45.8% ABV, non-chill filtered and naturally coloured, it is a lively introduction to the Port Askaig style.
