Port Askaig 25 Year Old is a mature Islay single malt selected from a small parcel of casks chosen for exceptional flavor, texture and balance after a quarter-century of maturation. Time in oak has softened the sharper edges of the peat and developed a broad profile that combines tropical fruit, florals, leather, spice and dry smoke. The nose opens with coal smoke and bursts of pineapple, lychee and guava before moving toward peach and floral notes. The palate is savory and complex, with cured meat, rye cracker, charred vegetables, leather and nutmeg balanced by grapefruit and older oak. Bottled at 45.8% ABV, the whisky remains full-bodied while showing the elegance and integration expected from long-aged Islay malt. The finish is long, herbal and dry with persistent woodsmoke.
