Dense dark purple. Powerful plums, a graphite note as well, significant density, the fruit swells right across the palate, a huge volume but the ripeness is perfectly judged, with an excellent length. This is very impressive. Revelling in the warmer vintage because the tannins are riper.\n \n Producer Information\n Domaine Jean Jacques Confuron is a wine producer located in Premeaux, near Nuits-Saint-Georges in the Côte de Nuits, Burgundy. The domaine has 8 hectares (19 acres) of vines across 14 appellations, including plots in the prestigious grand cru vineyards Clos de Vougeot and Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Its focus is on red wines made from Pinot Noir. The domaine began with the marriage of Jean Confuron and Anne Marie Bouchard in 1926, bringing together the vineyards of two different families. These vineyards have been passed through the family since, and the domaine has expanded as well, picking up plots in the prestigious grand cru sites. The viticultural portfolio is now approximately 95-percent Pinot Noir with small plantings of Chardonnay and Aligoté.In the winery, grapes are destalked prior to a short period of cold maceration. Fermentation is done in both stainless steel and oak before being placed immediately into barrels for ageing. The wines see varying levels of French oak, depending on their status, with the grand crus getting a higher proportion of new oak. Wines are bottled without any fining or filtering.
