Montecillo Gran Reserva Selección Especial 2001 is a limited-production historic Rioja red made from old-vine fruit sourced from a small vineyard between Fuenmayor and Cenicero in Rioja Alta. The official winery specification lists a blend of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano. It was aged for 36 months in American and French Allier oak barrels, followed by extended bottle maturation before release. The wine is deep red with ruby and garnet tones, showing concentrated black fruit, spice, mineral notes, noble oak, tobacco leaf, and a powerful yet balanced palate with refined tannins and notable freshness.
