Pure aromas of raspberries and currants. Medium to full body. Dusty tannins. Lovely, berry and currant aftertaste. Fresh and clean.\n \n Producer Information\n Martin Ray is a producer based in Santa Rosa, California, in the heart of the Russian River Valley. It produces a wide range of wines with emphasis on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and the Bordeaux grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The estate has a 5 hectare (12 acre) plot in the Russian River Valley that is planted to several clones of Pinot Noir. A majority of grapes are sourced externally from contract growers from several neighboring regions, including Green Valley for old vine Chardonnay, and Stags Leap District and Diamond Mountain for Cabernet Sauvignon. The flagship wine in the portfolio is the Diamond Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Other notable wines in the collection are named after the vineyard from which they are sourced. In the winery, both oak barrels and stainless steel are utilized for primary fermentation with native yeasts from the winery and vineyard. Wine maturation occurs in both concrete eggs as well as French oak barrels. Proprietor Courtenay Benham, who acquired the estate in 1990, also owns Angeline Vineyards and Courtney Benham Wines, both of which are based out of the Martin Ray Winery.
