This comes from one of the top ranges of wines produced by the giant Boisset family group. It is an attractively scented wine, with spice and smoky aromas. The taste is rich, juicy, but well balanced, with fresh black cherry flavors and a good thread of dry tannins. Producer Information Jean-Claude Boisset is a wine producer based in Nuits-Saint-Georges in the northern part of Burgundy's Côte d'Or subregion. The estate comprises 40 hectares (99 acres) of vineyards, spanning premier cru climats from Gevrey-Chambertin to Morey-Saint-Denis, as well as grand cru vineyards including Charmes-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin and Clos de la Roche. The family-owned estate was established by Jean-Claude Boisset in 1961 within the walls of the historic Ursulines convent. To begin with, Boisset only bought and sold wines, but in 1964 he purchased his first vineyard plot in Gevrey-Chambertin. The company grew rapidly over the next two decades and in 1985 it became the first of Burgundy's négociants on the stock market. Today, Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset oversee the management of the estate.
