Les Grandes Terrasses is named for the extremely steep terraces supported by small dry stone walls that overlook the Rhone Valley. These parcels on the South-facing slopes of the hill behind the village of Cornas have soil of decomposed granite called gore and produce rich, full-bodied wines. The Syrah vines are 20 to 60 years old. The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted, destemmed (100%) and crushed. The maceration lasts for 3 to 4 weeks with daily pump overs. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new. Potential to age up to 15 years.
