Wonderful nose of exotic fruit (more mangosteen than lychee) and tropical flowers, none of the specific notes dominating, rather the opposite. So succulent and elegant, the texture on the rather sleek palate really silky. The extravagance of this grape only showing a little at the flamboyant finish, where a salty touch lifts the ample body effortlessly. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.\n Producer Information\n Domaine Weinbach is a leading wine estate of the Alsace wine region. Located in the village of Kayersberg, it is known for producing wine from Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Gewürztraminer in a concentrated style, with many of the top-cuvées bottled with residual sugar. Unusually for the region, Weinbach produces wine purely from estate-grown grapes. It has holdings in four nearby Grand Cru vineyards on the slopes of the Weisbach Valley – Schlossberg, Furstentum, Mambourg and Marckgrain. Weinbach also owns the famous 5-hectare (12-acre) monopole, Le Clos des Capucins, which surrounds the cellars just below Schlossberg, and the Altenbourg vineyard adjacent to Furstentum. The estate has been in the Faller family since 1898, with all cuvées from the domaine named after members of the family. The Clos des Capucins Cuvée Théo is a Riesling named after Théo Faller, the second generation of the family to work the estate after it was aquired in 1898. Théo Faller was particularly passionate about the estate, strongly advocating for the recognition of Le Clos des Capucins as an appellation d'origine contrôlée. Théo's wife Colette and their two daughters Catherine and Laurence also have a cuvée in the portfolio. Domaine Weinbach is named after the "wine brook", a small stream that runs through the main property. Constructed in 1612, it is a former monastery of the village.
