Subtle reduction plays at the edge of the otherwise fresh aromas of pear and apple that are framed in a deft dash of oak. There is a hint of citrus to the generous, round and delicious flavors that possess good mid-palate density and good vibrancy before culminating in a pleasantly dry and balanced finish. Producer Information Bouchard Aîné & Fils is a large Burgundy negociant based in Beaune, with cellars in the 18th Century Hôtel du Conseiller du Roy. It mainly produces wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The company dates back as far as the 1730s, when Michel Bouchard settled in Burgundy to set up a fabric business, before branching out into wine. By the 1860s it was trading across Europe and into the French colonies of Algeria and Vietnam. Bouchard Aîné & Fils has been owned by the Boisset family since 1993. Throughout its history, the company has never owned any commercial vineyards, instead producing wine from bought-in fruit. This is in contrast to the separately owned, but easily confused, Bouchard Père et Fils, which owns the largest area of Côte d'Or vineyards of any estate. Bouchard Aîné & Fils' extensive portfolio goes beyond the Côte de Beaune, producing wines from wider Burgundy and around France. This includes wines from grand cru vineyards like Clos de la Roche and Clos de Vougeot, as well as labels from Chablis and Beaujolais. Bouchard Aîné & Fils also makes a range of wines under the IGP Pays d'Oc and Vin de France classifications.
