This Cabernet Sauvignon offers aromas of green bell pepper, scorched earth and culinary spice. The straightforward, easygoing palate shows baked plum, star anise and vanilla alongside smooth tannins.
Producer Information
Poggio al Tufo is a Maremma Toscana outpost of the Veneto-based Agricola Tommasi Viticoltori. It was formed in 1997 when the Tommasi family bought an estate in Pitigliano, which today consists of 66 hectares (163 acres) of vineyards on volcanic soil. The estate makes three wines – a varietal Alicante Bouschet and a Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rompicollo, a Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon blend. All three reds are vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged in large Slavonian oak casks. The single white is a Vermentino, fermented and aged in stainless steel.
