Ripe black cherry aromas with hints of tobacco and herbal spice lead to smoky black cherry and spiced plum flavors on the palate, and a plush, lingering finish. Producer Information Sutter Home is a California wine producer located in the St. Helena subregion of Napa Valley. It is credited with creating the original White Zinfandel in the 1970s. The winery is one of the larges estates in the United States in terms of annual total production. It has been owned by the Trinchero group since 1948 of which also includes Menage à Trois, Joel Gott, Trinchero Napa Valley and Napa Cellars within its holdings. Although its current history begins after Prohibition, Sutter Home’s wine productiono dates back to 1874 when John Thomann established a winery, distillery, and Victorian house at the St. Helena estate. The property was sold to the Leunbergers who renamed the winery Sutter Home, yet production stopped due to Prohibition in the 1920s and the site was left abandoned. Trincheros purchased and renovated the property the property in 1948. The Sutter Home wine portfolio is designed to be approachable with affordable, quality wines that are suited to a broad range of consumers. There is a large range of wines from over 20 different grape varieties that are sourced from multiple sub-regions of California’s wine country.
