Lively nose of crushed raspberries and blueberry with hints of pepper and rose petals. On the palate, the wine is juicy with an unctuous silky texture and a freshness that extends through the finish. Supremely balanced and complex.
Producer Information
Matteo Correggia is a northern Italian wine producer located in Piedmont. The estate produces Barbera d’Alba and Langhe wines, but is best known for its Roero DOCG wines from Arneis and Nebbiolo. The flagship of the Matteo Correggia wine portfolio is the Apapà , a varietal Nebbiolo sourced from a single vineyard. After a hand-pick in the vineyard, it spends approximately 45 days macerating in ceramic amphora. After fermentation is complete, it is returned to amphora for 20 months of aging prior to 20 months bottle-aging before release. Other notable wines in the collection include the Roero Riserva Ròche d’Ampsèj as well as the Roera Arneis, both also sourced from single vineyards. Matteo Correggia cultivate 20 hectares (49 acres) throughout the municipality of Canale. As well as Nebbiolo and Arneis, Sauvignon Blanc, Brachetto and Barbera are also cultivated. Here, soil types a predominately sand-based with small portions of silt and clay content for water retention.
