Spicy dried raspberry and cherry flavors show hints of dried beef in this firm red, with hints of savoriness midpalate, followed by mushroom broth hints on the finish.
Producer Information
Head High Wines is a Californian wine brand that had its origins in a second label of Three Sticks Wines. It was established as a distinct winery in 2015 by Bill Price III, the owner of Three Sticks Wines as well as the Durell and Gap’s Crown Vineyards. Head High is a very small winery producing approximately 15,000 cases a year. The portfolio now consists only of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The aim is to produce “true to varietal” wines at a reasonable price to the consumer. Fruit is sourced from a number of top-quality vineyards throughout Sonoma County. Emphasis is placed upon on vineyards from cooler climate areas such as the Petaluma Gap AVA. Bill Price has a strong link to surf culture; the brand name refers to the perfect head-high surfing wave. Based on sales, donations are made to environmental and community non-profit organizations.
