The L’Avvocata Barbera d’Asti from Coppo has a beautiful, intense ruby red color in the glass. Its aroma delights with the aromas of fully ripe, juicy cherries, blueberries and blackberries. On the palate, this Italian red wine is perfectly balanced and transports the fruity aromas with a well-integrated fresh acidity that is gentle and not too sharp. The tannins are ripe and sweet, the body is medium-bodied and rather playful and the finish is of medium length, but clearly defined by the berry aromas that were already present on the nose.
The L’Avvocata DOCG Barbera d’Asti from Coppo takes its name from the past owner of the vineyard, who was reverently known in the village as “The Lawyer”. In contrast to its namesake, this single-varietal Barbera is young, vital and simply fresh.
The orientation of the vineyard, which is located in southern Asti, ranges from south-west to south to south-east. As is typical of Coppo’s Barberas, the vineyards are located at medium to high altitudes of 650 to 820 meters above sea level, which helps to develop the aromas of the grapes. The soil consists of a mixture of silt and clay with calcareous sediments. The Barbera vines were trained using the Guyot system and are planted at a medium density of 4000-5000 plants per hectare.
The healthiest and ripest grapes are harvested by hand in 40-pound picking baskets. In the wine cellar, the must is gently pumped over the marc cake several times. After fermentation, the L’Avvocata DOCG Barbera d’Asti from Coppo matures in stainless steel tanks to preserve its full fruity aromas.
