Etrusco Nero Vermouth is produced from a blend of Fertuna fine red wine, flavored with natural extracts of herbs and spices also originating from the Maremma area.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Tenuta Fertuna is located in the heart of the magnificent Tuscan Maremma, an area that is fast becoming known for its high-quality wines. In a nutshell: Created in 1997 to fulfil Giuseppe Meregalli’s vision of building a super-premium estate, Tenuta Fertuna proudly sits alongside other noble Italian wine brands also represented by the Meregalli family. The winery is based in the Maremma, a chic but discreet Tuscan sub-region to the west near the coast, sandwiched between Grosseto and Livorno. Sustainability is a key term for Tenuta Fertuna and after 3 years of organic conversion, from the 2020 vintage Tenuta Fertuna is certified Organic. In 2022 Tenuta Fertuna became a Sustainable Winery certified at European level. Organic fertilisers are used in the vineyards to support the soil’s natural fertility, with the promotion of indigenous entomofauna and natural predators for pest control, and water management systems that see rainwater collected for the cleaning of non-alimentary surfaces. All waste waters are purified in the winery and reused for irrigation. As a signal to the quality of the wines, the estate produces and blends own label wines in partnership with Angela Hartnett (for her restaurant at the 5* Lime Wood Hotel and Murano restaurants in London), as well as with Robin Hutson for The Pig Hotel group. New to the list this year is Tenuta Fertuna’s super Tuscan wine named Celeo, made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for 12 months in barriques. The terroir: The estate covers 145 hectares, of which 50 ha are currently vineyards. The land is rich in Galestro (shale rock) and Alberese (limestone), with a Mediterranean micro-climate and strong diurnal temperature range influences. Careful manual selection of grapes takes place two or more times a year, when they are green and ripe, so as to ensure perfect quality of the bunch. The vineyards are equipped with a drip irrigation system, powered by a large artificial lake of about 15,000 square metres, which is supplied from local sources and recycled rainwater.
