The nose shows some new oak, layered with sweet fruit, cherry, plum, sweet spices and tobacco. The palate is ample and rounded with nice layers of spicy fruit, dark cherry and plum with some chocolate flavours, balanced oak and a long warm finish.

Producer Information

Claudio Quarta Vignaiolo, owned by Claudio and daughter Alessandra, is a group of three wineries located in Puglia and Campania, surrounded by scenic beauty and lush countryside. Tenute Eméra, Cantina Sanpaolo, and Moros Winery are the three structures immersed from the winemaking passion of Claudio. Today, the estates produce top-quality DOC, DOP, IGP, and DOCG wines from local and international grape varieties. Claudio always had a thing for wines and vineyards but couldn’t switch the job. He was a biologist, geneticist, and a microbiologist in NASDAQ, New York. During his tenure, Claudio developed various innovative biotechnologies while dreaming about establishing a winery. In 2005, he returned to Italy and geared up for his ‘second-life’ as a winemaker. Estate Eméra was the first winery he built, followed by the Sanpaolo Winery. Later, his daughter also joined the winemaking business in 2012 – the same year the Moros Winery was founded. Tenute Eméra is the largest of the three wineries, covering a total area of 80 hectares, of which 50 hectares are for grape cultivation. The name has a Greek origin of the goddess Hemera and inspired by Salento’s geographical position. In the vineyards, the family grows native vines like Primitivo, Negroamaro, and Fiano di Puglia, paired with international grapes, including Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Nestled on the apex of a magnificent hill, the Sanpaolo Winery has got its name from San Paolo di Tufo, a district in Campania. Tourists can enjoy a 360-degree view of the Sabato Valley from the winery’s terrace. The estate cultivates two unique grapes, namely Greco di Tufo and Aglianico. In the cellar, various sizes of French oak barriques, tonneau, and barrels are present. Another boutique cellar, the Moros Winery, is exclusively dedicated to the production of Salentino PDO wines.
