Le Marche is a beautiful wine region, with miles of untamed coastline, picturesque fishing villages like Portonovo, Renaissance gems like Urbino (where the painter Raphael was born), medieval hamlets such as Urbania, rustic mountain villages like Carpegna and wild expanses of nature that culminate in the splendorous peaks of Monti Sibillini. Pievalta started in the Marche, in Castelli di Jesi, as a project to develop Verdicchio through organic viticulture, biodynamic farming techniques and experimenting vinification in amphora, as per ancient methods. Verdicchio is the most famous native grape variety from the Marche. It finds perfect symbiosis with the soil and climate in Castelli di Jesi. Pievalta?s 71 acres are divided into 2 vineyards, which are in the best wine-growing areas of Castelli di Jesi: in Maiolati Spontini and in San Paolo. Since 2008, all the Pievalta wines are certified by Demeter.

Tasting Notes
A serious, profound bouquet with a hint of licorice. The palate reveals the spices of this new terroir, interwoven with herby garrigue flavors. Attractive structure, taut, elegant, compelling ? you sense the freshness of the place. A true character.
