Additional Information

Our family grows and produces a handful of very small parcels of wines from western Marin County, Oakville (Napa Valley), Santa Lucia Highlands and other vineyards across California’s most scenic and celebrated winegrowing regions. As stewards of the land, and to ensure suberb quality and style, our wines are sustainably or organically farmed and we produce only about 15 barrels (about 375 cases) of each wine. Each of our wines boasts its own label, depending on their growing appellation: Superbly mature and well-drained sites on east-side of Oakville AVA, next door to Screaming Eagle, down the road from Rudd & Joseph Phelps? Backus Vineyard; Exemplary sustainable farming practices provided dense clusters with perfect flavor and maturity; Classic Bordelaise winemaking (blended varietals, new French oak, egg-white fining) partnered with beautiful Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon provides a spectacular result.

Tasting Notes

Essential to all good chardonnay is a backbone of acidity which we achieved by picking early and not allowing our Chardonnay to go through Malolactic fermentation. This allows us to craft a wine which is crisp, clean, and refreshing while at the same time delivering more tropical fruit flavors such a guava, Asian pear and melon. On the nose the oak has a subtle play between aromas of freshly cut melon, brioche and baker?s dough. On the palate this wine delivers an elegant balance with layers of tropical fruits, white jasmine flowers, pear and talc. Keeping up with tradition at Swanson, stylistically it is more Chablis than Cote d?Or.
