Critical Acclaim
JS97 – James Suckling
Blackberry, cedar, tobacco and tar on the nose. Flowers and citrus zest, too. It’s medium-bodied with tight, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Refined and so elegant, with seamless layers of fresh berries and dark spices. Great length.
RP95 – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2019 Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec was sourced from their vineyard in Gualtallary, but each year it can be sourced from different vineyards, hence the “nómade” in the name. It fermented in a 6,500-liter oak vat with indigenous yeasts and had a 30- to 35-day maceration time, then matured in French oak barrels, 80% of them new, for 16 months. This is aromatic and floral and seems to have absorbed the oak quite well. It has notes of wild herbs, spices and violets, and on the palate, it comes through as textured with chalky and fine-grained tannins. It finishes with clean and precise flavors, dry and supple. This is superb, and while it’s already approachable, it should continue growing in bottle.
V95 – Vinous
The 2019 Malbec Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade hails from the eponymous corner of the Uco Valley and was aged for 16 months in 4/5 new barrels. Rich purple in the glass. The nose offers hints of violet over ripe fruit notes such as plum and cherry along with orange petit fours and a woody backdrop of gentle vanilla and cedar aromas. It’s sugary and intense with a young tannic structure. The oak and red fruit linger at the back of the mouth, enhanced by the freshness. The 2018 is a potent wine that will be imbued with greater subtlety over time. Drinking window: 2024 – 2038
