Deep purple red; dark rye bread, blood orange and dark berry fruit character with hint of chocolate; mid-framed and bold with a spicy finish. Producer Information Rosemount Estate is a wine producer in Australia, making a wide range of wines from vineyards in the McLaren Vale sub-region of South Australia. Wines are produced from Shiraz, Grenache and Mataro, as well as several white wines made from Chardonnay. The wine portfolio is extensive range of blends and varietal wines, sourced from multiple regions throughout South Australia. The flagship collection consists of the Balmoral Syrah and the Estate GSM blend. These wines are sourced from vines that are estimated to be up to 100 years old from the Seaview vineyard. They are ages in a mixture of new French and American oak, and can be cellared for up to a decade. There is also a range of single-vineyard wines and the Diamond label, which is Rosemount’s entry-level range. Grapes are sourced from a variety of sites located around McLaren Vale. Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache are planted in the Seaview vineyard, where the soil is made up of sand and red clay. The same varieties flourish in the deep sand soils of the Tatachilla vineyard, which is located on one of the highest points of the Mclaren Vale, at around 166 meters (540ft) above sea level. The north-facing Sellicks Foothills vineyard, near the coast, is planted to Shiraz and Chardonnay.
