Additional Information

The Bessin family has been producing Chablis for over a century from their family estate in La Chapelle Vaupelteigne, France. Jean-Claude and his wife Evelyne are the fourth consecutive generation to manage the Domaine, and are now being assisted by their son. They practice ?lutte raisonnee? ? they plow between rows to encourage the vines to establish deep root systems and do not use pesticides. The fruit is harvested by hand and the whole clusters are gently crushed using a pneumatic press. Jean- Claude and Evelyne have maintained the same wine philosophy for 20 years ? vinify each vineyard separately in temperature-controlled tanks and in barrel, with no micro-oxygenation and no intervention to reveal the inherent typicity of its terroir.

Tasting Notes

The cuv?e Millerand?e is so named because it is comprised of grapes whose natural fertilization partly failed due to the old age of the vines and the nature of the soil and sub-soil of this parcel. The grapes are very small, with concentrated sugars, organic acids and aroma precursors which makes for a highly-complex and unique Chardonnay.
