The Louis Memory is the masterpiece of the family collection, radiating its venerable tradition. Its name is an homage to Louis Deau, who settled in Cognac in the 17th century to first establish this long-standing Cognac heritage. This Hors d’Age is a very old 100% Grande Champagne Cognac with an endlessly unfolding aftertaste. It’s hard to believe, but the oldest eau-de-vie in this blend dates back to 1916. The old age explains the Cognac’s amber color and maroon-like glow.

Grande Champagne is revered for its ability to produce such exceptional eaux-de-vie that is light, floral and lengthy on the palate. The unique geological makeup of this small area is really quite astonishing. The fossilized remnants in the soil back to the Jurassic period, when the Atlantic Ocean covered a large area and sediments were deposited. Millions of years later, the soil is high in chalk content allowing vines to grow and flourish. Combined with an optimal maritime climate, it certainly deserves its status as the “Premier Cru”. It’s hard to believe, but the oldest eau-de-vie in this blend dates back to 1916. The old age explains the Cognac’s amber color and maroon-like glow.

Tasting Notes

Color : Amber, maroon like glow.

Nose: Subtle hint of honeybush and peach. Swirling the Cognac in the glass and letting it warm up allows it to develop an intricate variety of rancio aromas, with notes of fig, vanilla, cinnamon and black cardamom.

Palate: First taste reveals smooth hints of vanilla and cinnamon. The maturity of the Hors d’Age comes last, with aromas lingering endlessly on the palate.
