Founded In 1749 By Kihei Yao Who Was Born And Raised Early 18Th Century In Hino In The Omi Area Currently Shiga Prefecture. Merchants From Omi Were Well Known As Omi Shonin One Of The Most Successful Merchant Groups In Japan During The Edo Period. They Traveled City To City Village To Village Nationwide Trading Crops Textiles Home Medicines Mosquito Netting Lacquerware And Other Local Specialties.During His Teenage Years Kihei Was Transferred Chichibu By His Employer And Worked As The Gm At The Chichibu Branch For A While. Later He Quit The Job And Started Up His Own Business Sake Brewing. Chichibu Was A Wealthy Region Due To Copper Production And Silkworm Industries And It Was Located At The Crossroads Of Edo (Tokyo) Kai (Yamanashi) Shinano (Nagano) And Musashi (Kanagawa).
