The brothers Jean-Guilliaume, and Jean-Philippe Bret run two businesses – negociant wines from single growers and single plots under their name, and the estate vineyards at Domaine La Soufrandiere at Vinzelles in the Macon. The domaine itself is small, with 6.15 ha over the Pouilly-Vinzelles (two sites) and Macon-Vinzelles appellations plus 0.75 ha in Beaujolais. From 1947 until 1999, the family had sold grapes to the local co-op, but in the 21st century, the brothers have taken advantage of their working experience at (among others) Comte Lafond, Ridge, and Newton to craft wines that punch way, way above their weight.

Tasting Notes
This St. Veran is one of the best examples that arrive in the Ontario market. ?From a north-facing vineyard directly under the Roche de Vergisson (one of the iconic natural landmarks of the Macon), the?soils are a blend of marl and clay. ?Unbelievable precision and purity is in this wine, and although it's a cooler site the grapes achieve perfect balance and ripeness. **bottle shot pending
