The brothers Jean-Guilliaume, and Jean-Philippe Bret run two businesses – negociant wines from single growers and single plots under their name, and the estate vineyards at Domaine La Soufrandiere at Vinzelles in the Macon. The domaine itself is small, with 6.15 ha over the Pouilly-Vinzelles (two sites) and Macon-Vinzelles appellations plus 0.75 ha in Beaujolais. From 1947 until 1999, the family had sold grapes to the local co-op, but in the 21st century, the brothers have taken advantage of their working experience at (among others) Comte Lafond, Ridge, and Newton to craft wines that punch way, way above their weight.

Tasting Notes
This ripe wine comes from vines from two parcels: one normally in the wine, with vines more than more than 60-years-old, the other a hilltop vineyard added in 2014. It is full of rich white fruits that skirt on the zesty side of citrus, giving a crisp edge to this otherwise full wine. It is balanced, juicy and ready to drink.
