A generous palate with woody spicy flavors are the keys to this full-force Monastrell. Opaque purple appearance with blueberry and raspberry aromas round out this full bodied and boastfully concentrated wine.\n \n Producer Information\n Bodegas Volver is a Spanish wine producer making wines in Alicante, Jumilla, Rueda and Castilla La Mancha. The brand was founded in 2004 by Jorge Ordoñez and Rafael Canizares to highlight lesser-known Spanish wine-producing regions in export markets. It has a diverse portfolio of brands, but production is largely focused on the Monastrell and Tempranillo grape varieties. Many of Volver's wines are made from the 110-hectare (272-acre) vineyard in La Mancha. Here, the soils are sandy and iron- and limestone-rich, and are planted to low yielding, dry-farmed Tempranillo vines. The best section of the land, the Finca Los Juncares vineyard, is 29ha (72 acres) and includes Tempranillo vines planted in 1957. The wine made from this vineyard, the Bodegas Volver is aged 18 months in French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered. Paso a Paso and Venta Morales are also made in the La Mancha vineyards. These two labels both produce a range of Tempranillo wines, but a couple of white wines are also made under the Paso a Paso label from Verdejo and Macabeo. In Alicante, Bodegas Volver make the Tarima Hill label, which is focused on Monastrell, a variety that does very well in the extreme climate here. Tarima Hill makes several Monastrell wines, and also has a range of white wines made from Merseguera, Macabeo and Moscatel. Bodegas Volver produces another Alicante wine, Triga, which is a blend of 85 percent Monastrell and 15 percent Cabernet Sauvignon from the bodega's oldest vines, some planted in 1925. Bodegas Volver's Jumilla vineyards are planted to Monastrell with vines ranging in age from 25-35 years. The region experiences extreme temperature fluctuations with little rain.
