Fresh and easygoing, this enjoyable red has aromas and flavors of black plum, ripe black berry and a hint of vanilla. Soft tannins provide light support.\n \n Producer Information\n Tenuta Rapitalà is a wine producer located on the island of Sicily. It produced its first vintage in 1976 and today cultivates a combination of native grape varieties like Nero d'Avola, Catarratto and Grillo, alongside imported varieties like Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. The estate extends over an area of 225 hectares (556 acres) and the vineyards range from 980 to 1970 feet (300-600m) above sea level on clay and sand-rich soils. The grapes from each vineyard parcel are vinified separately in order to gain the maximum expression of each individual terroir. Rapitalà 's cellars have recently undergone renovations and now house more than 600 French oak barrels. The majority of the estate's wine portfolio is dedicated to varietal red and white Sicilia IGT wines. Rapitalà also makes a small selection of Alcamo-classified wines from the Catarratto grape, as well as a collection of blends including the Rosammuri rosato, which is made from a combination of Nerello Mascalese and Perricone grapes. The name Rapitalà is derived from the Arabic word rabidh-allah, which translates as "river of Allah" and refers to the stream on the estate. It was established by Frenchman Hugues Bernard Comte de la Gatinais and Sicilian Gigi Guarrasi. Today, the management of Tenuta Rapitalà is overseen by their son Laurent.
