A youthful , modern, polished style with dense core of dark, purple and black fruit with evident vanilla and spice. Palate of wild strawberries and red cherry but still very youthful, this wine will benefit from cellaring, but has huge potential.\n Producer Information\n Bodegas Ramon Bilbao is a Spanish wine producer, located in Haro of northwest Rioja. It produces a portfolio of wines based on the Tempranillo grape variety. The Bodega was founded in 1924 by Ramon Bilbao Murga. It remained within the family for the next 40 years until the last descendant of the family died. In 1999 the Diego Zamora liqueur company purchased the winery and began an extensive program of modernization. In the winery today, innovation is applied to the vinification regime; grapes are classified with optical selection with investment into precision viticulture and yeast research underway. Oak barrels are kept under five years of age with no filtration or clarification employed prior to bottling. There are currently 265 hectares (654 acres) of vinyards cultivated by the company planted to Tempranillo, Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. Plots are found scattered throughout the DOCs of Rueda and Rioja. The flagship of the wine portfolio is the Ramon Bilbao Mirto Singular Distinction, a 100 percent Tempranillo. It is only produced in exceptional vintages from the oldest vines in Haro. The ocmpany remains within the portfolio of Diego Zamora of which includes mulitple other brands such as Martin Miller's Gin and Villa Massa amoungst others.
