An elegant, floral-edged version, with charming cherry and plum purée flavors lined with subtle tea and garrigue notes. The silky, fresh finish is sneaky and long.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Château Pesquié is a Rhône Valley estate situated in the three villages of Mormoiron, Blauvac and Ville-sur-Auzon in Ventoux. The two predominant grape varieties cultivated at the estate are Grenache and Syrah, with smaller plantings of the likes of Cinsaut, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette and Chardonnay. The Chaudière family acquired Château Pesquié in the 1970s when the Ventoux wine appellation was still in its infancy. The family developed and replanted the estate's original vineyards and in 1989 established their own wine cellar, producing their first vintage a year later. The management of Château Pesquié is now the responsibility of Alexandre and Frédéric Chaudière, who since 2003 have implemented organic viticultural methods at the estate. The vineyards are situated at the base of Mont Ventoux and consist of vines averaging 40 years old, with some vines reaching up to 100 years old. These vines occupy clay and limestone slopes and are among some of the last to produce fully ripened fruit in the southern Rhône Valley. Château Pesquié uses a combination of stainless steel and concrete vats to vinify and store its wines, followed by aging in oak barrels. In the case of the estate's flagship wine, Artemia, the grapes are fermented and macerated in contact with oak. The wine is then aged in 50 percent new oak barrels for approximately 18 months. Artemia is a 50:50 blend Syrah and Grenache grapes sourced from two separate varietal vineyard parcels. In 2005, Alexandre and Frédéric Chaudière expanded the family's wine portfolio with the creation of the Le Paradou wine label. This range comprises a total of three varietal red, rosé and white wines based on Grenache, Cinsaut and Viognier, respectively.
