The grapes are destemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of 25 to 26 degrees for 20 days. The wine then matures for 15 months in French oak, some of which is new. Trapiche was founded in 1883 with a small vineyard at the foot of the Andes called El Trapiche. Starting as a local business, Trapiche has now grown into a winery of stature with over 1,000 hectares of vineyards. They also partner with more than 300 winemakers in the area to offer wines from the best terroirs in Mendoza. Trapiche is a pioneer in Malbec. As such, Trapiche makes Malbec wines in various price ranges, from low to high. The flagship wines in our range are the Single Vineyard Malbecs in the familiar heavy bottles with the white label and the red capsules. Every year, chief winemaker Daniel Pi and his team select the three best Malbec terroirs from cooperating winemakers. In doing so, he presents the exceptional quality of Malbec from local grape growers to the world. Trapiche’s ambition extends far beyond being coveted for fine Malbec wines. Trapiche’s ambition in the coming years is to build its acquired position in the hotlist ‘Most Admired Wine Brands in the World’ into a permanent top position. This ranking is published annually by the renowned Drinks International. In this ambition, Trapiche strives to offer quality in all wine series, from Falling Star to Melodias (Winemaker Selection) and from Broquel to Perfiles. In each series, Trapiche manages to compete on price/quality. With a wide range of grape varieties, the winery also caters to the needs of a very large group of consumers.
