The terroir of Tuscany is excellent for growing not only red grape varieties, but also white ones, which Agricola San Felice has successfully proven by releasing the beautiful, stylish white wine "Ankerona" , created from a blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The grapes for this wine are grown on the calcareous marl soils of the special vineyards of Ankeron and Campriano, with south-eastern and south-western exposure. The total area of vineyards located in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga at an altitude of 340-400 meters above sea level is 5 hectares. The age of the vines is more than 30 years. After hand picking in the first half of September, the grapes undergo maceration for 24 hours at a temperature of 8 °C, then the wine is fermented in small new French oak barrels. Aging takes place in two stages: for 9 months in oak barrels on lees and 6 months in bottles. The storage potential of wine is 5-8 years. \n \n The history of the San Felice company dates back to the beginning of the 20th century; according to found documents, it was at this time that the parish of San Felice, dedicated to the martyr San Felice da Nola, appeared. The temple and the farm nearby survived all historical vicissitudes. Together they were subject to various types of control, both religious and control from powerful families. It was only at the beginning of the 20th century that the Del Tay family took over management of the territory and turned the farm into a successful enterprise. The prestige of this family is confirmed by the fact that they were one of the founders of the famous Chianti Classico Consortium (their famous logo with a black rooster).\n \n The time after World War II was a decadent one for San Felice , as for the entire Chianti region. But in 1968, fortune turned in the company’s favor; it was acquired by a large financial group. Enzo Morganti, a far-sighted manager with extensive experience in growing Sangiovese, laid the foundations for scientific research that was initially aimed at improving the potential of this variety.\n \n Today, Agricola San Felice is known throughout the world for its innovative ideas and impeccable quality of products, thanks to which it has achieved great success. The philosophy of San Felice is the pursuit of unsurpassed craftsmanship, achieved through research, experimentation, and maintaining an important relationship with the local terroir. From the 1970s to the present day, the company has pursued a policy of continuous improvement and renewal of vineyards and modernization of wine production technologies, while not forgetting to protect and take care of ancient traditions.
