Producer Information Ménage à Trois is a value-priced California wine brand owned by Trinchero Family Estates. Its portfolio includes more than a dozen wines made from popular international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, Malbec, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc. The label was created in 1996 by the Folie à Deux winery in St Helena. It was initially a single red blend of three varieties – Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot – which gave the wine its name. A white blend of Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Moscato was introduced as well. With its risqué name and affordable price tag, Ménage à Trois quickly became a popular brand, successfully incorporating the sexual innuendo of the label into its marketing. In 2004 the brand, along with Folie à Deux, was bought by Trinchero, which also owns the value-driven Sutter Home line of wines. Trinchero expanded the Ménage à Trois range to include more blends, and also introduced single variety wines. In 2009, Ménage à Trois was named wine brand of the year by the industry publication Market Watch, that same year selling 1.6 million cases. It continues to be made at the Folie à Deux winery, and has also expanded its label to a line of Vodka.
