Fragrant nose of white florals, lemon blossom and fresh garden herbs with a hint of green apple and pear. The palate shows zesty lime juice flavours typical of Clare, a hint of green apple sweetness, an elegant weight and texture and zippy finish. Producer Information Grosset Wines is a wine producer in Auburn, at the southern tip of the Clare Valley, South Australia. It was founded in 1981 by Jeffrey Grosset, and since then has set out to make high-quality wines from a range of grape varieties, but in particular from Riesling. There are 20 hectares (49 acres) of estate vineyards, which are scattered around the Clare Valley and the Adelaide Hills. Polish Hill, which lends its name to Grosset's most well-known Riesling, is planted on hard, rocky soils and produces a single-vineyard Riesling wine with distinctive flavors of citrus and slate. Yields are very low and the wine is fermented in stainless steel before being settled for a period of time on its lees. Riesling is also grown in the Springvale vineyard, which is on soils of red loam, shale and limestone – this wine has an intense minerality which is typical of this region. Grosset's Gaia vineyard is at a higher elevation, sitting at 570 meters (1870 feet) above sea level. It is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and makes a wine with notes of red berry, chocolate and bramble. It can benefit from several years of bottle age after vintage. There are numerous other wines – aside from a slew of Rieslings – in the portfolio, made from Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. Grosset also grows a small plot of Fiano in its Watervale vineyard in the Clare Valley, making a lemony wine called Grosset Apiana. It also produces a Shiraz - Nero d'Avola blend called Nereus. A single Eau-de-Vie, Grosset 45, rounds out the Grosset portfolio.
