Bright, powerful ruby, fresh. On the nose there are notes of pepper and ivy, then juicy cherry. Juicy and crisp in attack and course, delicate tannin and well integrated acidity.\n \n Producer Information\n \n The story of Antonio Fattori starts from a small village clinging to the walls of an ancient extinct volcano in the eastern hills of Verona. Yes! Indeed a volcano, Calvarina, the largest extinct volcano in the Italian foothills. Here millions of years ago the landscape was tropical, with coral reefs, brightly colored fish and colorful, lush flora. The hot waters submerged everything that is now visible and Calvarina was a volcano that emerged from the waters and launched jets of lava and sulphurous smokestacks. The fossils of the large fishpond of Bolca reveal this story to us. The earth is black and in some parts the large black basalt crystals still emerge. Wild capers and blue irises make this territory a place in itself, a unique space among the first peaks of the Little Dolomites of Lessini . In Brenton, above Roncà , Antonio was born and lived and has today built an extraordinary cellar that tells that whole story. A tunnel that penetrates the black volcanic rock and insinuates itself into the belly of the ancient volcano from which fire energy was once released and today pure, crystalline water flows. Antonio inherited from his father Giovanni the vineyards in very suitable areas that have always been dedicated to viticulture. Here it produces the ancient local grape Durella and other international vines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Further west, among the hills of Monteforte it produces Garganega for its great Soave. His latest acquisition is the extraordinary terrace of Col Bastìa where, about 500 meters away, he produces the grapes for the Valpolicella and Amarone wines.
