Pintia Toro 2019 750 ML
The wine released in 2024 is the 2019 Pintia, from a very dry year when they did a softer vinification and used some 15% stainless steel for the élevage to keep the fruit and freshness. It fermented in stainless steel and oak vats with indigenous yeasts. It's a powerful year; the wine has 15% alcohol and is round and full-bodied. It's a heady and ripe Pintia. They had to be careful with the harvest date, and they harvested early and quite quickly. Even though the wine is ripe and heady, with notes of grenadine and small ripe berries, it's also exotic and spicy, quite showy, lush and full-bodied, with 2019 tannins. It's a more powerful wine that is going to require patience. They produced 224,724 bottles, 6,587 magnums and some smaller and larger sizes.
Vega Sicilia Ribera Del Duero Valbuena 5 2019 750 ML
Valbuena 5º is the purest red wine expression at Vega Sicilia, aged for five years in oak and bottle, hence its name: Valbuena 5º.
This 2019 vintage was drier than the previous ones, which was evident during the grape tasting at the beginning of September. The fruit was very healthy and the skins ripened well thanks to the rain that fell at this time of year. Our obsession was to find freshness without erring on the side of over-ripeness. During the fermentation, we made sure that the extraction was gentle. Obviously, we adjusted the ageing, maturing part of the wine in oak vats during the first year to add tension to the wines. For this vintage, the presence of American oak was reduced in favour of French oak, with a preference for light toasts. In the second year, the wooden vats helped to bring out complex nuances and, above all, textural elegance.
Valbuena 5º 2019 is both succulent and muscular, taut and delicate. Expressive, elegant, lively and profound, it is a fascinating wine.
Alion Ribera Del Duero 2020 750 ML
Alión is formed by a careful selection of plots spread across the best of Ribera del Duero. These plots, which complement each other, joined by the same viticulture as Vega Sicilia, have given rise to firm structured wines. Of outstanding personality, lots in Alion are guided through 12 months ageing in French oak barrels and 5% American oak, to obtain maximum complexity from the diversity of soil.
Alión is a fleshy, complex, intense wine, where elegance plays a differentiating role and is the winery´s hallmark. It is definitely modern, genuine and multicultural in character. A perfect pairing.
