Medium to full-bodied and complex, elegant glycerine sweetness, ripe and fresh, long fruity finish.\n \n Producer Information\n Celler de Capçanes is a Catalonian wine cooperative based in the Montsant DO just south of Priorat. It produces a broad selection of wines from a wide range of grape varieties, led by Garnacha. The Capçanes range also includes several well-known Kosher wines. The cooperative was founded in 1933 by five families seeking competitive economies of scale. The wine was sold off in bulk until 1980 when grapes began to be sold off prior to fermentation. In 1995, Capçanes was approached by the Jewish community of Barcelona to produce a Kosher wine. This required a new, separate facility to produce wines under Lo Mebushal conditions and prompted a wider move back to winemaking in 1998. Celler de Capçanes now have several dozen growers with vineyards on a wide range of terroirs. This is relfected in the wine portfolio, which is expansive, encompassing various sub regions, grape varieties and production styles. The Capçanes portfolio is underpinned by the Mas Donis and Mas Collet ranges of red, white and rosé wines. At the top end, there are several varietal Garnacha-based wines, including a Blanc de Negres, and the Garnacha-based Mas Torto blend. The Kosher selection is led by the La Flor del Flor Old Vines Samso, produced from Cariñena. It is accompanied by multiple other Kosher wines, predominately red blends of Grenache, Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah.
