Grown on sandy soil, the Franc de Pied cuvée from Domaine des Roches Neuves offers a tender and supple red wine, on small red fruits, with beautiful floral notes. The wine is crisp, delicate, delicious, balanced, on the fruit.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Domaine des Roches Neuves is a French wine estate based in Varrains, in the Saumur-Champigny appellation of the central Loire Valley. Thierry Germain established the estate more than 20 years ago and has since built a solid portfolio of wines largely centering on the Cabernet Franc grape variety, complemented by a smaller selection of Chenin Blanc wines. The domaine's Cuvée Domaine is a blend of Cabernet Franc grapes hand-harvested from several vineyards in Chaintres, Varrains and Saumur. These vines average 25 years old and are planted in chalky, calcareous soils. The domaine also cultivates a vineyard plot in Dampierre that was first planted to Cabernet Franc in 1904. These grapes are the source of Domaine des Roches Neuves' highly rated Les Memoires wine. Domaine des Roches Neuves produces four white wines from its Chenin Blanc vineyards in Saumur, more specifically at the sites of Les Cerpes et Saint-Vincent, Dampierre and Parnay. These vineyard sites sit atop soils typically of a sandy clay layer overlying limestone bedrock. Domaine des Roches Neuves ages the majority of its white wines on their lees for approximately nine months. The domaine applies biodynamic winemaking practices for the production of both its red and white wines and is an organically certified producer.
