A well-balanced wine that shows best when young.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Tenuta Il Palagio is a Tuscan wine estate just to the east of the Chianti Classico zone. The location has been farmed for many centuries, though it was in a state of near-ruin in 1999 when it was purchased by rock star Sting and his wife Trudie Styler. The estate is located near the town of Figline Valdarno, and covers 350 hectares (864 acres) of Tuscan countryside. Its vineyards are planted to classic Italian varieties like Sangiovese and Vermentino, as well as internationally famous varieties like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The land is farmed organically and biodynamically, and produces vegetables, honey and olive oil, as well as grapes. Il Palagio produces several wines under the Toscana IGT and Chianti classifications. This includes the range-topping Sister Moon, made from a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as the Message in a Bottle cuvée, a Sangiovese, Merlot and Syrah blend. Finally, the Casino delle Vie is named after a property on the estate and is a classic Chianti blend of Sangiovese with Canaiolo and Colorino.
