Mild yeasty notes accompany powdery tropical-fruit aromas on the nose that turns more funky and wild with air. This sparkler made from the ancient PaÃs grape feels lean and dry as well as foamy. Lightweight flavors of stone fruits finish with a recurrent yeasty note.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Miguel Torres is a Chilean wine producer with a portfolio spanning several regions and grape varieties. After establishing in the Curico Valley in 1979, Miguel Torrese now produces millions of cases of wine per year after 40 years of significant growth, expansion and development. Miguel Torres is an expansion of Bodegas Torres, one of the largest, and most-recognized producers from Spain. Their fourth generation winemaker, Miguel Torres Carbó relocated from Spain to establish a winery with a commitment to innovation of the Chilean wine industry. The company was the first to introduce fermentation in stainless steel tanks as well as the use of French oak barrels for maturation and consequently, pioneered the industry in Chile. More recently, the producer is focusing on organic vine growing and has invested in several projects involving sustainable practices. In 2012, all vineyards of Miguel Torres achieved organic certification as per Chilean, European, American and Japanese standards. Miguel Torres produces a wide range of wine under several titles. Most recently, the Escalera de Empedrado was released in 2015, a high-end Pinot Noir from Maule. Inspired by the terroir of Priorat, prospecting begun for a suitable estate and after numerous years, Pinot Noir was planted in 2007 in a terraced vineyard with slate-based soils. This site choice continues with the company's philosophy of innovation; vineyards of Chile are more commonly found planted in undulating fields to the traditional varieties of Carmenère and Chardonnay. The producer has made conscientious effort to revive the PaÃs grape, a historic, variety in Chile that tends to carry the connotation of being of low quality. On the contrary, the Estelado rosé sparkling wine has recieved numerous awards since its release in 2007. The Gran Reserva range is exclusively sourced from the Curico Valley and includes varietal wine from Chardonnay, Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon. All wine from the range spends 18 months in French oak barrels for maturation. The Cordillera de las Andes range focuses on terroir expression from select vineyards. It includes Syrah from Casablanca Valley, Sauvignon Blanc from Osorno Valley and a Carignan from Maule Valley. Miguel Torres also produce an alcohol-free Sauvignon Blanc as well as a bright and floral El Gobernador pisco from the Muscat of Alexandria grape variety.
