Eolie, land of the wind, thus evoking the gentle ocean breeze that caresses the vines. Acquired by Ernest SAUVION in 1935, Château du Cléray-Sauvion is, with its old vaulted cellars, one of the oldest properties in the vineyards of Sèvre et Maine. It extends over 95 hectares, planted mainly with Muscadet Sèvre & Maine, but also Gros-Plant, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. The soils are silico-clayey, rather late but rich terroir, with high aging potential. Maison SAUVION has always occupied a very special place within the vineyard by its style, the quality of its Muscadet as well as by its distribution mainly in traditional circuits or in niche markets. To affirm its difference, Maison Sauvion offers Haute Culture de Sauvion , a line that brings together in a refined presentation of gastronomic Muscadet expressing finesse, elegance and style that characterize the SAUVION "signature". These Muscadet Haute Culture also reveal the characteristics of the terroir and some, by their structure and richness, become surprising cuvées for laying down, thus recalling the Burgundian origin of the melon grape variety. From the start of its activity, Maison SAUVION has made every effort to give letters of nobility to its Muscadets, thus enhancing the entire appellation. Today, it is more than 60% of its wines that Maison SAUVION exports to more than 80 countries, thus becoming the ambassador of the Nantes vineyard. Muscadets can be found on the most prestigious tables around the world. Pierre-Jean Sauvion, son of Yves Sauvion, was born in the middle of the garden, his parents' house is surrounded by vines. Raised in the wine world since his childhood, passionate about the culture of wine, Pierre-Jean is an oenologist, graduated from the University of Bordeaux. After his studies, he made wines in California, Australia, Alsace, Cahors, Bordeaux... then returned to the family home, Château du Cléray - Sauvion in 2004. From now on, Pierre-Jean, "Shaper of Pleasure", shapes the wines of Maison Sauvion, for our greatest pleasure, to the glory of wines.
