Delicate and impressive depth on the nose. The finish is quite unique, rich and long lasting.\n \n Producer Information\n Domaine François Lumpp is a wine producer situated in the village of Givry in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise region. Unusually for this region, François Lumpp is best known for its white wines made from Chardonnay, and holds several prestigious Premier Cru vineyard sites in Givry, including Petit Marole, Crausot, Clos Jus, Clos du Cras Long and A Vigne Rouge. François Lumpp started producing wine in 1977, and established his own 4 hectare (10 acre) domaine in 1991. Today, the domaine has grown to comprise approximately 10ha (25 acres) of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards located exclusively within the Givry appellation. One of the estate's most recent and largest acquisitions was a 3ha (7 acre) plot in A Vigne Rouge. The slopes here face largely south, and are planted to 15-year-old Pinot Noir vines. The soils are typical of the domaine's vineyard holdings and comprise a combination of limestone, clay and fine marl. At harvest, the grapes are picked and sorted by hand. In the winery, the Chardonnay grapes are placed in oak barrels to ferment, while fermentation of the Pinot Noir grapes takes place in stainless steel tanks. The percentage of new oak used in the 12-month aging process is adjusted according to the style of wine, with the white wines aging in 30 percent new oak and the red wines in 70 percent new oak barrels. The wines are racked once prior to bottling. Domaine François Lumpp also produces a small selection of regional-level wines, including its Pinot Noir-based Le Pied du Clou and its Clos Des Vignes Rondes Chardonnay.
