Light salmon pink with delicate pink reflections and a lively, fine mousse. On the nose there are aromas of fresh red fruits, nuances of cherry, strawberry, a hint of greengage and some candied orange zest. The palate is light-footed, and freshly structured, with white apple fruit and a chalky-lemon finish.\n Producer Information\n Champagne Duval-Leroy is a Champagne house based just outside the town of Blancs-Coteaux in Vertus, 18km (11 miles) south of Epernay, in the Côte des Blancs subregion of Champagne. It was established in 1859 as a partnership between Edouard Leroy and Jules Duval, and is now in its sixth generation of family ownership. It is one of a few Champagne houses that is still entirely family-owned. Duval-Leroy is recognized for its environmental approach to winemaking, and was the first Champagne house to produce a certified organic Brut Champagne. A range of non-vintage and vintage Champagnes are produced from the house's 200 hectares (500 acres) of vineyard land. Around 40 percent of the estate's grapes come from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Oger, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Chouilly. In keeping with the regional moniker (of La Côte des Blancs) Most of Duval-Leroy's non-vintage and vintage Champagnes are Chardonnay-dominant and range from Brut Nature to Demi-Sec styles. Femme de Champagne, meaning Woman of Champagne, is the house's tête de cuvée. It is a blend of 85 percent Chardonnay and 15 percent Pinot Noir, grown exclusively from Grand Cru sites. It is only produced in the best vintages and ages for a minimum of 10 years before release.
