Intense black currant, bilberry, cassis and violet aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this juicy red. A firm spine of tannins and lively acidity add lift, as this lingers with an aftertaste of fruit, spice and earth.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Domaine de Courcel is a Burgundian estate situated in the commune of Pommard in the Côte de Beaune. The domaine holds four premier cru climats planted exclusively to Pinot Noir: Le Grand Clos des Epenots, Les Rugiens, Les Frémiers and Les Croix Noires. Domaine de Courcel has belonged to the Courcel family for more than four centuries. Today, the domaine's 11 hectares (27 acres) of vineyards fall under the responsibility of Anne Bommelaer and Marie de Courcel. In addition to its range of premier cru wines, Domaine de Courcel also makes a Pommard village-level wine called "Les Vaumuriens", a Bourgogne Rouge Pinot Noir-based wine and a Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay-based wine, with total production reaching approximately 30,000 bottles per year. The 5ha (12 acre) Le Grand Clos des Epenots plot accounts for half of the domaine's total production. This climat is located on an east-facing slope composed of clay and limestone soils and is planted with vines averaging approximately 60 years of age. Domaine de Courcel's 1ha (3 acre) Les Rugiens plot is planted on marlstone and clay slopes with eastern exposures. As with the domaine's Le Grand Clos des Epenots site, these Pinot Noir vines average 60 years old. The smallest of Domaine de Courcel's premier cru vineyard plots, Les Frémiers and Les Croix Noires, are located below the Les Rugiens climat.
