The 2020 Beaune Bressandes 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet with vivacious red cherry and crushed strawberry scents, just a touch of freshly rolled tobacco in the background. The palate is fleshy and ripe that almost disguises the backbone to this Bressandes. Lightly spiced, the whole bunch here really works to its advantage and there is impressive weight and elegance on the finish.\n \n Producer Information\n \n Chanson Pere & Fils en Bourgogne (Domaine Chanson) is a wine producer and négociant based in the central Burgundian town of Beaune, known for its large vineyard holdings in the Côte de Beaune. It has a broad portfolio of wines from all over Burgundy, however, and some in Beaujolais, covering the regional varieties Pinot Noir, Gamay, Chardonnay and Aligoté. It is however, most closely associated with Premier Cru parcels around Beaune. The domaine was established in 1750 as Maison Verry, a merchant company that was not limited to making and selling wine. It acquired its first cellars in 1777, which remain in use today. In 1794, the company acquired its signature 16th-Century fortified tower, La Tour des Filles, after it was seized during the French Revolution. The tower now houses the thousands of oak barrels used for aging the wine. Alexis Chanson began managing the domaine in the first half the 19th Century, and in 1847 bought the Verry family's shares, changing the name of the estate. Domaine Chanson was run by the Chanson family until 1999 when it was bought again by Société Jacques Bollinger, the holding company of Champagne Bollinger. Chanson purchases grapes from producers across Burgundy but makes its signature wines from its own vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. It owns 45 hectares (111 acres) of vines exclusively in premier and grand cru vineyards in appellations such as Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Roughly half of this hectareage is in ten of the most prestigious premier cru Beaune vineyards.
