With fine bubbles and the personality of a reserva, the wine is marked by red fruits and floral aromas. Fresh and balanced, it won't leave you indifferent. \n \n Producer Information \n The Caves Avinyó cellars are located in the old Can Fontanals farmhouse, in Avinyonet del Penedès, a town devoted to the culture of the grapevine since the 16th century. Currently, and for thirty years now, the winery has focused its energies on the production of cava, in addition to wine, under the supervision of the four Esteve i Via siblings. The Caves Avinyó cellars are located in the old Can Fontanals farmhouse, in Avinyonet del Penedès, a town devoted to the culture of the grapevine since the 16th century. Currently, and for thirty years now, the winery has focused its energies on the production of cava, in addition to wine, under the supervision of the four Esteve i Via siblings. Guests can visit the old part of the farmhouse as well as the new cellars where ageing in casks, bottling and tirage bottling take place. While in the cellar, they also have the opportunity to learn about the cava production process. Two small underground cellar tunnels, one rustic and the other modern, give special charm to the tour. In addition, the owners' mother makes traditional Catalan pottery and has her workshop in the farmhouse. One of the workshop's activities is the recovery of Catalan pottery from the 18th and 19th centuries. An artistic sensibility fills every corner at Caves Avinyó, even the bottles. In this regard, the design of the cava caps which, besides customising the bottles, has been recognised by the Cava Caps Collector's Association, is worth mentioning. As for the vineyards, they stretch across four different estates: Ca l'Almirall, La Guà rdia, La Fassina and Can Fontanals. The latter, the largest of the four, is the core of family life, as it also is where the farmhouse and the cellar are located. On 33 hectares of land they grow the white varieties Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Parellada for cava and the red variety Merlot for red wine. They also experiment with varieties that are rare in Catalonia, such as Sitges Malvasia, Prieto Picudo and Riesling.
